I’m HERE- and Back Online

A few of us real estate bloggers where cyber attacked this past week.

Fortunately for me, most of my files was still in tact when these malicious attacks where stopped. But that doesn’t make it any less devastating for my fellow bloggers across the country who had at large part of their business shut down.

Our wonderful hosts have been doing a great job getting many large files of many bloggers back on line- but certain things are still not working properly and we are finding them as we go along.

If you have tried to reach me over the past week and have not heard back from me- please accept my apologizes and contact me again. CALL ME- 703-772-5555

My next few posts will also be picture-less. Until everything is back up and working.

Holy Cow Batman!! It’s A Flying Squirrel!!!

Arlington TV has started a “At The Nature” program to provide a condensed version of some of the activity of the Arlington County Nature Center Program.

Living in a county that’s 90% developed sometimes we forget that where we live was once wilderness with a few farms. But when we see the wildlife here – we’re reminded. Maybe they will do an episode on the red fox here in South Arlington.

They have many events scheduled for the spring. So shake off the winter and get out and enjoy the soon-to-be warmer weather! The trees are budding so the Cherry Blossoms aren’t far away.

Barry Manilow: He Really Is Music

Ok– I’m a dork and proud of it. This Christmas I received one of the best gifts ever– tickets to see Barry Manilow’s Vegas Show when it came to town this past week. We had great seats and a great time!

Have a great weekend and don’t forget to visit me at my open house Sunday from 1–4pm.

Merry Christmas to You and Yours

Scout and I wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I can tell you the story behind this picture – but you wouldn’t believe me if I told you. I swear it was me behind the camera…I don’t know what was going on behind me to get Scout to sit still. And I didn’t ask. Something about the groomer holding up a pug singing and dancing- but I was focused on the dogs in front of the camera and not behind it. Scout is going to be 12 years old in February and it’s one of the few pictures I have of him where some part of him isn’t moving.

Arlington County’s Animal Shelter

If you’ve lived in Shirlington for any amount of time you will notice that it is very pet friendly. I think this is because we are home to Arlington’s Animal Shelter and a few dog parks.

Animal Welfare League of Arlington has gone hi-tech. Every two weeks they post a youtube video of their pets available for adoption. Not all are cats or dogs.

If you are thinking about adopting a pet for Christmas- you can’t just walk into the shelter and walk out with a pet. Please call the shelter at (703) 931-9241 or email them at mail@awla.org for more information. Visit their website to learn more about the AWLA.

Ride Your Bike To Work? Let Arlington Light the Way

Bike street signMost people don’t realize that one of the Arlington County Board members rides his bike to work. This contributes to Arlington’s dedication to it’s bike paths and general bike safety.

In an effort to promote safe bike riding commuting after the end of daylight-saving time & darker evening commutes, Arlington County through it’s BikeArlington program and the Arlington County Police will give out and install free front and rear bicycle lights for local bikers riding without lights on their bicycles. This event will take place for one day only on Monday, November 5, 2007– don’t let it slip by.

Here is the important information:

WHAT: Arlington County’s award-winning BikeArlington program and the Arlington County Police Department will give out and install free bicycle lights for the first 75 local cyclists, instead of ticketing those without lights– which, by the way is required by Virginia law.

WHO: Local bicycle commuters, BikeArlington Staff, Arlington County Police

WHEN: Monday, November 5, 2007, 5:30 p.m. – 6:15 p.m.

WHERE: Washington & Old Dominion Trail at Columbia Pike, Arlington, Virginia

Read the full press release here.

Shirlington 038The event is accessible via bicycle from the Washington & Old Dominion Trail and Columbia Pike. The event can also be reached by motor vehicle via Columbia Pike.

Arlington County Commuter Services created the BikeArlington program to promote more cycling, more often throughout the County. Visit www.BikeArlington.com for bicycling information including, maps, commuting tips, and safety tips.

1–800–200–TAXI (1–800–200–8294) use it- it’s free.

Now, if you are going to over do it on chocolate- you are on your own!
