I’m HERE- and Back Online
April 20th, 2008 Categories: Blue Plate Specials, Real Estate News
A few of us real estate bloggers where cyber attacked this past week.
Fortunately for me, most of my files was still in tact when these malicious attacks where stopped. But that doesn’t make it any less devastating for my fellow bloggers across the country who had at large part of their business shut down.
Our wonderful hosts have been doing a great job getting many large files of many bloggers back on line- but certain things are still not working properly and we are finding them as we go along.
If you have tried to reach me over the past week and have not heard back from me- please accept my apologizes and contact me again. CALL ME- 703-772-5555
My next few posts will also be picture-less. Until everything is back up and working.

Holy Cow Batman!! It’s A Flying Squirrel!!!
March 8th, 2008 Categories: Around Arlington County, Blue Plate Specials, The Road Less Taken
Arlington TV has started a “At The Nature” program to provide a condensed version of some of the activity of the Arlington County Nature Center Program.
Living in a county that’s 90% developed sometimes we forget that where we live was once wilderness with a few farms. But when we see the wildlife here – we’re reminded. Maybe they will do an episode on the red fox here in South Arlington.
They have many events scheduled for the spring. So shake off the winter and get out and enjoy the soon-to-be warmer weather! The trees are budding so the Cherry Blossoms aren’t far away.

Merry Christmas to You and Yours
December 23rd, 2007 Categories: Blue Plate Specials, The Road Less Taken
Scout and I wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I can tell you the story behind this picture – but you wouldn’t believe me if I told you. I swear it was me behind the camera…I don’t know what was going on behind me to get Scout to sit still. And I didn’t ask. Something about the groomer holding up a pug singing and dancing- but I was focused on the dogs in front of the camera and not behind it. Scout is going to be 12 years old in February and it’s one of the few pictures I have of him where some part of him isn’t moving.

Arlington County’s Animal Shelter
December 8th, 2007 Categories: Around Arlington County, Blue Plate Specials, Shirlington
If you’ve lived in Shirlington for any amount of time you will notice that it is very pet friendly. I think this is because we are home to Arlington’s Animal Shelter and a few dog parks.
Animal Welfare League of Arlington has gone hi-tech. Every two weeks they post a youtube video of their pets available for adoption. Not all are cats or dogs.
If you are thinking about adopting a pet for Christmas- you can’t just walk into the shelter and walk out with a pet. Please call the shelter at (703) 931-9241 or email them at mail@awla.org for more information. Visit their website to learn more about the AWLA.

Most people don’t realize that one of the Arlington County Board members rides his bike to work. This contributes to Arlington’s dedication to it’s bike paths and general bike safety.

This event will take place for one day only on Monday, November 5, 2007– don’t let it slip by.
Here is the important information:

WHEN: Monday, November 5, 2007, 5:30 p.m. – 6:15 p.m.

1–800–200–TAXI (1–800–200–8294) use it- it’s free.
Now, if you are going to over do it on chocolate- you are on your own!

It’s finally here- the opening of Harris Teeter in Shirlington. To celebrate, Harris Teeter is sponsoring “Taste of Teeter” evening on Tuesday October 23, 2007.
It’s a wine tasting event in their store on the corner of Campbell Street in Shirlington. They are offering a special 15% discount on a case wine purchased then.
There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony to launch all the festivities.
Tuesday October 23, 2007
5:30 pm– Ribbon Cutting
5:30 pm – 8 pm – Taste of Teeter
Just in case you can’t find it– here is their address:
Harris Teeter at Shirlington Village
4250 Campbell Avenue
Arlington, VA 22206
This is one of the final openings in this phase of the Shirlington expansion. It’s almost over. Still under construction is this commercial building. There is suppose to be street level shops, offices and even more parking. But up next is Saigonique– a new Vietnamese restaurant.
I love this new face of Shirlington! Now if we could just get a metro station…..
